Potassium Bromide (kBr) - CAS NO 7758-02-3

Bromide (potassium bromide [KBr] or sodium bromide [NaBr]) is a halogen anticonvulsant used to treat epilepsy in veterinary medicine. KBr was originally used to treat epilepsy in humans in 1857; however it has since been supplanted by newer anticonvulsants with fewer side effects.

Applications:

Potassium bromide is a halide salt that is widely used as a supplement to Phenobarbital when it is ineffectual or not as effective as expected. It may also allow you to reduce the Phenobarbital dose level. Potassium bromide may also be administered as the sole anticonvulsant medication at first.
